General Summary
The Enterprise Data Analyst- Power BI is responsible for
maintaining consistent data quality among managed entities in our
business systems and has the responsibility for developing Power BI
analytics, dashboards, and reports related to the company's data
warehouse development and maintenance. They must be well versed in
the creation of both standard and specialized analytics to meet the
needs of Twin Star Home. The Enterprise Data Analyst partners
across the organization to ensure data is created, managed, and
effectively utilized. They also maintain the integrity and
performance of company databases. They will be responsible for
training/informing/providing support to end users and assisting in
the adoption of the Power BI Toolset across the organization.
Primary / Key Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Review and optimize current TSI Data and BI environment.
- Possess a comprehensive Information Technology and Services
training, background, and expertise
- Working knowledge of database design, development, and
maintenance
- Experience working within a cloud development environment
(e.g., Azure, AWS, Google, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI toolset
- Ability to define both technical and customer requirements
necessary to bring an analytic from the conceptual to product
delivery
- Demonstrable strong data analysis and data mining skills
(T-SQL, MDX, DAX, and Microsoft Power Platform)
- Manage design and operation of SQL databases and business
intelligence data warehouses on MS SQL Server; maintain database;
and schedule and perform regular server maintenance.
- Continually review processes for improvement; review existing
solutions, analyzing impact of database changes to the business
including evaluating new data needs for the company.
- Install and configure database software.
- Performs database performance analysis, capacity planning,
system sizing and ongoing maintenance/tuning to ensure maximum
performance
- Implement backup and recovery plan, including preventing data
loss; ensuring data is secure
- Debug database issues on live data
- Develop and test methods to synchronize data
- Ensure databases run efficiently & platform availability
- Provide end-to-end technical support and problem
resolution
- Database programming in T-SQL to support company
procedures
- Gather data from Microsoft Navision and or D365 Business
Central to feed other systems, i.e., EDI and Anaplan Demand
Planning
- Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business
operations
- Working knowledge of various Extract, Transform and Load
tools
- Participate in development and maintenance of data
dictionaries, to include identification of business-critical
fields
- Provide reporting coupled with suggested actions to leaders
whose teams provide master data inputs, to reduce data quality
issues, non-value record maintenance, and process deviation
- Identify solutions which improve data architecture, quality,
and processes as well as drive the implementation of such
solutions
- Identify and manage data cleanup projects to improve data
accuracy
- Collaborate in designing and delivering the Master Data
Management technology foundation across the entire company
- Develop and implement a periodic review, inclusive of robust
reporting, of all master data to ensure data is current and
accurate across business functions, conforms to business rules, and
meets data quality standards
- Assist with new user set up to ensure employees have proper
access to Power BI and SQL reports. Design, Develop and Customize
Financial and Operational Analytics
- Work closely with financial and operational directors in
devising, designing, developing, and maintaining needed analytics
to support business objectives
- Define via requirement documents analytics produced from the
Azure data
- Develop and maintain dashboard reports according to
specifications developed in conjunction with company
Directors/Executive Leadership Team
- Maintain organized libraries of all coding necessary to
maintain data estate and related output products
- Develop and maintain complete documentation for all production
data warehouse analytics, dashboards, and reports. Education and/or
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.S./B.A.) in Computer
Science or equivalent degree and/or work experience
Minimum Experience: Five (5) years' experience as a Database
Administrator and Two (2) + years' experience in data analysis,
creation of reports and dashboards, including creating and
implement key metrics. Thorough knowledge and understanding of
database management software (Microsoft SQL Server)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with enterprise business systems including
front-office and back-office solutions
- Verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to
establish and cultivate relationships with key partners.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to navigate
ambiguous situations.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team
environment.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects along
with recurring responsibilities and adjust to changing priorities
with minimal leader input.
- Ability to research data definition, usage and flow to gain
expertise in existing systems.
- Expert troubleshooting skills to investigate resolve and
escalate problems. Identifies need for technical assistance to help
in problem resolution.
- Ability to summarize highly complex business cases, system
information and concepts and clearly communicate to
leadership.
- Data and business analysis skills, including strong building of
data models, data sets and documentation skills
- "Roll up your sleeves" hands-on experience with database
standards and end user applications a must.
- Building Power BI dashboards and reports including SSRS
experience a plus.
- Implements key metrics in response to organizational needs.
