Job Description:

The Seagate Hotel & Spa is currently looking to hire a Maintenance Engineer to work at our upscale luxury resort. The ideal candidate will have carpentry skills.

Summary of Position:

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible primarily for carpentry work, general maintenance and repairs in Meeting Spaces, restaurant, condo units and common areas. Public area entry-level preventative maintenance are included. The Maintenance Engineer will also perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen equipment, small masonry jobs. The Maintenance Engineer must be able to lift equipment/tools from 5lbs to 50lbs and be able to climb up and down a ladder.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for engineering and maintenance concerns
• Power washing
• Performs and/or monitors maintenance and preventative maintenance projects
• Responds to all building related safety concerns
• Supports maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly and monthly checklists
• Assists management in specifying proper supplies and equipment for operations Qualifications:
  • Previous Construction or hotel maintenance department supervisory or management experience
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
  • Should have basic understanding of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and carpentry concepts. Ability to:
    • Work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
    • Satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, coworkers and venders
    • Respond to emergencies when not physically at the job site
    • Work a variety of varying schedules
    • Perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum of supervision
    • Accurately compute manipulate mathematical calculations
    • Solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
    • Effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger
    • Work well under pressure of check-in/check-out of guests and handle multiple tasks at once
